Let me let you guys in a really sad secret of mine: I have thinning hair. Actually, it is no secret, it is quite noticeable. I once had long luscious curly hair. Now, my hair is nothing short of just straw-like strands that get pretty Knotty. Now, I am not sure what the real cause of my hair falling out is- its a mix between constant heat damage and stress. I actually hate what my hair has turned into. I have taken this quarantine as a great opportunity, to work on my hair and let it just breathe. I have used every trick in the book, every desi totka, all of it. I was actually about to give up until I stumbled upon this product on social media. It is the Olaplex Hair Perfector in NO.3.
I did my own research on this product and saw the amazing reviews and women with all hair types raving about this product. Essentially, this product is a hair bonder that helps to repair split ends and strengthen your hair. Now I know my hair is thinning and because of the constant heat damage, I have gotten split ends. I also saw some reviews saying this product made their hair even worse. Although there were only a handful of individuals who claimed this product did nothing but ruin their hair further, I was still a bit skeptical. Yet knowing the condition of my hair, I still decided to give it a try.
The product itself was $28 from Sephora, which, I thought it was a bit expensive. Sephora does have an amazing return policy but with everything going on, I may not be able to return the product until stores open up again. I saw on their website, that the brand has an entire line of products that go along with the hair perfector: a shampoo, conditioner, and a leave-in treatment. I had initially planned to just buy the border and try it but I realized I wouldn’t get the proper results or the full effect of the products. Luckily, I saw that they were selling a kit that included all 4 products for $25 at Sephora. I decided to buy that instead of just the travel size of the NO.3. This kit included the bonding treatment, shampoo, conditioner, and the bonding serum you apply after showering.

So when I got the package, I did a test patch on a strand of hair and I followed all the instructions religiously. I went through all the steps and my hair was fine. Fine in terms of that it did not react badly. My hair has been straightened so I decided to wash it and do the actual treatment the next day. My hair is super curly, frizzy, and damaged. I took the pictures above right before the treatment. I brushed out my hair so that there weren’t any knots or kinks.
I first dampened my hair and then dried it a bit with a towel so it isn’t too wet. I then combed it out with a wide-tooth comb and did a middle part. I then took a bit of the NO.3 bonding treatment in small amounts and applied it to my hair. I made sure all the strands were coated evenly and properly from the roots to the ends. I then clipped all my hair back using a clip. The box said to keep the treatment on for a minimum of 10 mins but I kept it on for much longer. I honestly don’t remember how long exactly I left it on but I believe it was over 30 mins. I gave a quick rinse before getting started with the shampoo and conditioner.
After rinsing it out, I then took a bit of shampoo and shampooed my hair as normal. One thing I would have to say is that a little goes a long way with the shampoo. I literally used a dime-size amount and my entire hair was coated with the shampoo. After shampooing I applied the conditioner and then let it sit for 3-5 mins before rinsing it out. I coated my hair from 2-3 inches from the roots to all the way down to my ends. After that, I washed out the conditioner, finished showering, and then took a microfiber towel to dry my hair a bit before wrapping it up.
I then took a wide-tooth comb to my hair and combed it out. I applied the NO.6 Bond smoother from midlength all the way down. I then just left my hair to air dry and here are the results below.

Verdict
Although I have only tried this product once, I do see a bit of a difference in my hair. Every time I would shower, I would have literal chunks of hair fall out. However, after this treatment, I did see that there was less hair fair when I stepped out of the shower. I know this product is not meant to stop hair fall but my hair is so damaged that it falls out. But with just one use, I saw that less hair fell out as a result of the treatment working, My hair did feel a bit softer and it was easier to handle after I showered. I do recommend that anyone who is interested in this brand to try the kit I got from Sephora. It has all the products in the hair repair line AND it is much cheaper than buying the travel size version of each product. In this kit, each product is about 1 oz. which sounds like nothing but trust me when I say this: A little goes a long way with this product. I think I can definitely get 2-3 generous uses out of this kit before I run out. I will be using this product a couple more times to actually see real results but so far, I really like it.
