This $7 Foundation is a Total Game Changer!

One thing I feel like I can never have enough of is foundation. Yes, it is safe to say I am a foundation Junkie. I literally love buying new Foundations and testing them out. Especially now, considering I don’t have any foundations that match me! I guess staying in doors for 2-3 months because of Quarantine has caused me to get fairer? I am not sure but I am actually very sad because most of these I had purchased a couple months ago and they do not match me at all anymore.

Anyways, I was stocking up on some hair care and skin care products a couple weeks ago and I stumbled upon this foundation that I was instantly intrigued by. It is The Ordinary Coverage Foundation. I am sure most of you have heard about this brand before, it is famous for their chemical peel solutions and serums and they are super affordable. I decided to buy the foundation and check it out. This product retails for $6.90 on their website. I have loved each and every product from their brand that I have tried, so I decided to try this foundation out as well!

The Packaging

Okay, so I had ordered the product from their website directly and it took about 1 week to arrive. I don’t think this product is available at Ulta or Sephora so you would have to purchase it from their website directly. Anyways, it came packages in a little squirt bottle. The packaging itself was just basic but the bottle feels very nice and luxurious. When I opened the foundation, it looked very familiar but I could not tell where I saw it. Then it hit me, It looks like the PERRICONE MD No Makeup Foundation (retails for $60 at sephora)! The packaging was very similar to both of these products down the the font- which I thought was kind of cool ( maybe I will do a comparison in the future)! I liked that it came with a squirter and the actual container is plastic that way it will not break and is easy to travel with. The product is about 30 ML.

Shade Range

Okay so for a drugstore foundation, this has a pretty decent shade range. It has about 20 shades that range from very fair to very deep. I am not sure how fair or how deep it actually is but judging from the pictures on their website, it seems like they are good on both sides of the spectrum. One thing I really liked is that they actually focused on skintone and not just put random names for each shade! They have 3 numbers that corresponding with a shade : 1= light, 2 =medium, 3= deep. Corresponding with each number are letters that indication undertone: red, pink. yellow, golden, and neutral. As someone who has a neutral undertone, I find it difficult to find a foundation that is a good match. I chose the shade 2.0 ( light medium neutral ) based on their shade guide online.

Coverage

So as for coverage, I did not have any major expectations. I wanted to try the product before I passed on nay prior judgement. However, the product claims to be a full coverage foundation; the website also claims that this product contains higher number of pigments compared to other foundations yet provides an ample amount of coverage because it is a serum foundation. It is also Alcohol free, oil free, cruelty free and vegan!

I first swatched a bit of it on my jaw to see if the shade was correct for me. It was! Since it is a serum foundation, it is a bit runny so I recommend applying it with a dense brush for best results. I applied little at a time. I applied it directly with my fingers and then blended it out with a brush. Let me tell you, the coverage is insane! It blended in so well with my skin that it did not even look like I was wearing foundation! It covered up all my blemishes so beautifully. It did not feel heavy on my face and I wore it all day and it did not budge! After using my brush, I did go in with a damp beauty blender to just soak up any excess product and blend it in even further. The results were amazing!

Conclusion

I am very impressed with this foundation! It has amazing coverage without breaking the bank! I think it would be an amazing product for summer time. It is super light weight yet provides a great amount of coverage; it won’t irritate the skin and doesn’t feel or look cakey. I am aware that they give less than an ounce of product like most foundations do, but one pump goes a long way! So even though it is less than usual, the coverage makes up for it and it is affordable, meaning you can repurchase again. Let me know if you have tried this product out or if you end up purchasing it!
