If you know me personally, then you know I cannot live without my morning Ice tea lemonade from Starbucks. I would get it a couple times a week in the morning when I would go to class. Since quarantine began, I have yet to have starbucks which is actually really sad. However, since it is the beginning of the semester still, I thought it was time to bring back this infamous habit of mine. I am not sure, but I just feel more productive and energized when I have my Ice tea with me.
I am taking all online/remote classes so I do not have the convenience of getting Starbucks from On campus. The closest Starbucks from me is about 10-15 minutes away and is always crowded and does not even have a drive through, unfortunately. Luckily I have be able to make my own at home with just a few ingredients and it tastes EXACTLY LIKE THE ONE FROM STARBUCKS. I know what you are thinking, anyone can make Ice tea. Although that is true, I would have to say that there is a difference in taste from any place you get it from. All the ingredients in this recipe cost less than $5 and you can make so many servings for only $5-6!If you want to know how to get your Starbuck fix at home, keep on reading!
Ingredients
- 2 Lipton Black tea bags
- True Lemon lemonade powder packets ( they also come in different lemonade flavors!!)
- Ice
- Sugar ( varies per person)
Alright so this recipe makes one serving of a Starbucks Venti cup. So the first thing you will want to do is brew the tea. Just place two tea bags into your cup and add boiling water. I let it sit for 5 minutes for the tea to let it steep and become rich. I then add the lemonade powder. The lemonade powder comes in little pouches. One pouch equals one serving. I add one pouch of lemonade per tea bag. So for this recipe add two pouches. I then mix it well and then let it chill in the refrigerator. You can add sugar when you mix in the lemonade powder but I like to do that when I am actually about to drink it.
After a couple of hours I just add a bit of ice to my desired cup of choice, some sugar, and pour in some of the ice tea. That is it! It is that simple but I honestly feel like this is the closest thing to my Starbucks order! the pouch of True lemon cost $1-2 and you can get a pack of 100 Lipton tea bags for less than $5. Hope you guys enjoy this recipe let me know if you guys try it out!
