This Drugstore Palette Might Give Huda Beauty a Break

Hey guys, I hope you are all doing well. I am super excited to share today’s blogpost. I was recently scrolling through Instagram when I stumbled upon a post that featured LA girl’s new makeup palette! As soon as I saw it I immediately thought of Huda Beauty. I read the comments and it seemed alot of people agreed, it looked very similiar to Huda beauty’s mini palettes. I immediately placed an order and I eagerly waited for them to arrive.

Now don’t get me wrong, I love Huda beauty, she has some amazing stuff. However, as a college student who has bills to pay, I know that Huda’s products are not something I can easily afford. I am sure other may feel the same way. LA Girl’s Palette in Foreplay looked very similar to HudaBeauty’s Topaz Gemstone palette. I wanted to test these products out and see if they really are a dupe. I will be comparing them on different aspects before I give my final verdict!

Packaging

So as you can see the packaging is a bit different. LA girl’s packaging is made of plastic and is a bit heavier whereas the Huda palette is made out of card board and is a bit smaller. Now one thing that should be noted is that Huda’s palette includes a mirror which the other one does not. This might be a good thing since it would be much easier to travel with you can just do your make up with one palette and it includes a mirror. The LA girl one does not include a mirror. Another thing I noted was that the pan sizes are bigger in the LA Girl Palette obviously since it is a bigger palette. Both palettes have pretty solid packaging but I would say that for the price, LA girl has really good packaging.

Pigmentation/Colors

This is where things get a bit exciting. At first glance the palattes do look similar but not entirely the same. However, when you swatch them and actually use them they are much similar. In terms of the quality of the shadows, I would have to say both palettes were very pigmented. They both blended well and a seamlessly. The LA Girl palette had a foiled/ pressed pigment shade in the palette which I did use and the color pay of was BEAUTIFUL. I would have to say that the LA girl shades blended just a bit more smoothly than the Huda ones.

Both palettes had very similar colors and tones but one thing I noticed was that two three shades were very different. The LA girl Palette had a bone color shade and a mid tone brown that was perfect for the crease! The Huda beauty palette had a yellow shade and a deep brown shade instead. I liked the deep brown shade in the huda palette and I feel that the LA girl Palette should have included a shade like that.

I took this picture AFTER I did my makeup.

Price

Now the pricing for both these products are very different. The Huda Beauty Palette is about $30 and the LA GIRL one retails for about $10 on Ulta Beauty’s website. There is not much to say about the price. The LA girl palette is much bigger and you do get alot more colors and shades versus the Huda palette.

Final Verdict

If I were to choose between these two palettes, I would definitely choose the LA Girl Palette. The color pay off is beautiful, colors blend beautifully, and it is much more budget friendly versus the HB palette. I actually create a look using both palettes one on each side and honestly I could not tell that much of a difference between the shades. However, the LA Girl foil shade was much more vibrant vs the HB one. I wet both brushes when applying the shimmer shades but the LA girl one was still much better. They have other palettes as well which are also super similar to the Huda Beauty mini palettes. Right now, the LA GIRL palette is on sale at ULTA Beauty for $6 versus $10! If you are interested in purchasing it, definitely purchase it now if you can! Let me what you guys think!

Can you tell the difference? My left eye is the HB palette and my right is LA Girl. They look pretty much the same. I was not able to get a closer pic sadly
