I have a slight obsession with makeup. Okay it’s definitely a little more serious than slight but you get the point here. I am someone who is definitely influenced by beauty content creators when it comes to new releases and am usually the first to make these purchases. However, sometimes these products turn out to be huge disappointments and it just sucks honestly because sometimes you just can’t return them and they either end up collecting dust in my vanity or even if they get returned, they automatically end up in the garbage because they are used.
I know it’s been a while since I shared some of my holy grail products or the products that did not work for me, but don’t worry, because today I want to share some products that I recently tried that were just not worth it for me. Most of these are from the drugstore. Some of them these products are from brands that I truly adore and love but these products just didn’t cut it for me. Now before I share these products, I do want to mention that just because they did not work for me, it may not be the case with you, I am just sharing my experience.
1. ELF Glossy Lip stain
I am not someone who is into glossy lips. But When I saw this product, I was excited for it. I saw so many tiktoks about how pigmented the product was and the amazing color pay off. I went ahead and bought 3-4 different shades. Boy, was I disappointed. The product is definitely glossy but it does not apply very nicely. The application was patching and not full coverage at all. Also, the product was sticky and not a good sticky but a weird nasty sort of sticky. Now I did pick up 3-4 shades like I mentioned and they were all like that so it definitely did not have to do with color pay off- the product itself was the issue.
2.CoverGirlOutlast Lipstain
I came across this product when I saw GlamZilla talk about it on Tiktok. I love her videos and her reviews are spot on. I saw her review this product a couple months back and I ordered it immediately. I got the same exact shade as her : Crimson Glory. It was a beautiful burgundy color that I thought would suit a wide range of skin tones. This product claims to be transfer proof and long lasting. I will have to give it points for smooth application and pigment but the product itself was underwhelming. It felt as if I was filling my lips with a marker. Also, it was not transfer proof- I waited a couple minutes for it to dry to see if it was transfer proof- It was. I could see a bit of it coming off as I kissed the back of my hand.
3. ELF Liquid Blushes
This one is definitely going to be a bit controversial but it has to be said. I love the Rare Beauty blushes but they are a bit expensive also they are on the boycott list. So when I say ELF came out with these dupes, I was excited. I went and bought a wide variety of shades to try on myself. I will say most of them applied rather beautifully and looked great. However they were not as long lasting as the rare beauty ones. Also I noticed that they darker shades applied very unevenly and spolchy to the point where there were areas with any blush and it was super patchy overall. Also, the applicator was not it. I don’t know how to explain it but the round application just did not cut it for me.
4.PÜR4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15
This one was sort of a whim purchase. I got this product for everyday use or to do a quick makeup look for when I am in a rush. I have used mulitple foundation powders in the past that have provided high coverage in just a swipe, but not this one. I felt like I was just packing on powder without actually having any coverage. Most of the time I would end up just taking it off because of the horrid applications. I also tried different tools such as a velour puff, Beauty Blender, and a brush to see if it would make a differnce in coverage. It was definitely a little disappointing considering the price of this powder foundation.
